I used to be a newspaper reporter. In 1996 I began painting for a living, documenting the city with images instead of words. My cityscapes and maps are known for their strong colors and detail.
As an avid student of DC history, I'm drawn to places of cultural endurance like Chinatown, U Street, and Adams Morgan, where I live. Some places just knock me out when I stumble across them--they demand to be painted.
I've sold my work at Eastern Market on Capitol Hill for more than two decades. During the ongoing pandemic, I'm selling work from my home in Adams Morgan.
My clients have included The Nature Conservancy, White House Historical Association, Smithsonian Folklife Festival, DC Convention Center, Blair House Restoration Fund, DAR Museum, The Washington Post, U.S. Forest Service, Stephen Decatur House Museum, Reading Is Fundamental and many others.
